From 2009-2014 PCMP LLC has been in production on the most exhaustive documentary series ever for the World Hockey Association. The WHA was the major league hockey rival to the NHL from 1972-1979, and four WHA teams joined the NHL in 1979. Hockey legends Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier started their major league careers in the WHA, and superstars Bobby Hull and Gordie Howe also made the WHA one of the most fascinating rebel sports stories of all time.
Timothy Gassen has authored a book about the league and has written, produced and directed the new three-part WHA Hall of Fame DVD series. PCMP partnered with Fox Sports VP Jack Stanfield to create this definitive history of the 1970s major league.
Volume 1: Gretzky, Indy & the WHA
Volume 2: WHA Legends: Winnipeg Jets vs Houston Aeros
Volume 3: Remembering the WHA
Each 2-DVD set contains new documentaries, restored vintage games and much never-seen-before footage. Twelve hours of footage has now been completed by PCMP, to be released on DVD in 2010. Film premieres have already begun throughout the US and Canada, including at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
More production for future release is underway throughout Canada and the U.S. and
